I have worked in private practice as a Psychotherapist for twenty years. I am an experienced Clinical Supervisor and Trainer in Psychotherapy.
I offer 1to1 Psychotherapy in person, and on Skype or Zoom. I supervise individual practitioners and groups, in person and online.
I am a relational psychotherapist: change happens through aware and attuned relating, with others and with ourselves. ‘Why’ this happens is supported by attachment theory & neuroscience. I have particular interests and skills developed from body psychotherapy, energy, image & imagination work, breath & movement training, Focusing and other expressive arts.
I am trained in therapeutic work with PTSD and somatic stress, Arts and Gestalt approaches. I am qualified in Biodynamic Massage, and may use this as part of a psychotherapeutic process. My approach supports the body and emotional body to release long held tensions resulting from trauma and life stresses.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Supervisor (including Training Supervisor, suitable for students) with the UK Council for Psychotherapy, and a fully accredited as a member the Chiron Association for Body Psychotherapists. I have a research-based MA in Body Psychotherapy, a Diploma in Supervision and a Post-graduate Diploma in Cambridge Body Psychotherapy. My approach is Humanistic, though I apply psychodynamic understanding.
For several years I was a trainer at Cambridge Body Psychotherapy Centre, and for Chiron Association of Body Psychotherapists in London (Post Qualifying training for cross-modality therapists); most recently I became a Teaching Fellow at Edinburgh University (Department of Counselling, Psychotherapy & Social Sciences), supporting clinical placements.
I have managed a trauma service for families for Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity, since 2018. Previously, I was manager of therapeutic services working with young people (aged 11- 26) across Cambridgeshire. For years prior, I held a specialist outreach role (Active Outreach) with adults experiencing severe & enduring mental illness, based in both hospital and community settings.
I am actively engaged in continuing professional development & continue to lead professional training.
I adhere to UKCP and CABP (UKAHPP) codes of ethics. As your psychotherapist I maintain absolute confidentiality, except in exceptional circumstances where there is a perceived risk to health or safety.
